The EKG/ECG Technician program prepares
any individual, with or without prior knowledge, to perform electrocardiogram
tests (EKGs, ECG, holster monitoring, and stress tests) in order to record and
monitor electrical impulses transmitted by the heart, thus assisting a
physician in diagnosing and treating cardiac and blood vessel
irregularities.
The EKG/ECG Technician program is
one of the four (4) components/modules necessary for completion of the Patient
Care Technician program. It is also
offered as a singular program allowing education, training, and certification
as an EKG/ECG Technician only.
Upon completion of the module,
however, the graduate is eligible for employment as an EKG/ECG Technician in
area hospitals and other healthcare facilities.
